About Westville Village Renaissance Alliance
Who We Are
The Westville Village Renaissance Alliance (WVRA) is a Connecticut non-profit, whose volunteer board includes local residents, business owners, government officials and corporate representatives who have a vested interest in the social and commericial success of Westville Village and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Originally founded in 1996 to support the Westville ArtWalk, the area's largest annual community event, WVRA has become the main advocacy organization for Westville. WVRA advocates on behalf of Westville's commerical and residential districts, representing their needs and interests to the City of New Haven, the State of Connecticut, and many other stakeholders who partner in community development, historic preservation, arts programming, and community based economic revitalization.
Our Mission
By bringing together people interested in the success of Westville Village and its surrounding environment, WVRA can plant the seeds of future endeavors and build a vibrant neighborhood. WVRA has already helped businesses and residents through three major initiatives. The Westville ArtWalk is an annual spring event that brings thousands to explore Westville's robust arts scene and to explore Westville's vibrant downtown. The Holiday Open House includes neighborhood celebrations for adults and children of the neighborhood rich religious heritage. The third initiative is Art Openings, Film Screenings, and Free Music occur on special nights when Westville's several art galleries open in series or together for a remarkable experience.
